Cholhama Roshe Roshe
In Kashmiri, cholhama means abandoned or departed and roshe represents mutual resentment/umbrage, anger, wrath, passion, rage. It is a common phrase incorporated by Kashmiri poets into their beautiful poems
Here is a contemporary composition on one of the finest pieces of poetry from Mehjoor. If you thought Kashmiri songs don't bode well with Guitar, this will prove you wrong
cholhama roshe roshe, poshe mati janano
vuchmakho duure duure, son ghom swargichi huure
chas vadaan chure chure, poshe mati janano
baal pyeth laaye naado, poth faer ha shahzaado
mo chal gwad paal vaado, poshe mati janano
aeti aeti rozto yaaro, kot-chalukh jaadugaro
gwad-kar myonuy chaaro, poshe mati janano
baal pyeth baal chas praraan, ash-kanii khoon chas haraan
yaaras mar mati kharaan, poshe mati janano
CokeStudio12 recreated the beautiful song in the serene vocals of ZebBangash, a Kashmiri ode to loss that speaks of the grief that follows in the absence of a beloved.
Habba Khatoon, also called the Nightingale of Kashmir, has an equally popular 'lol' or lyric on this topic: cholhama roshe roshe, walo myani poshe madno
cholhama roshe roshe
walo myani poshe madno
walay vasiye gatchav aabas
duniya chhu nindri ti khaabas
praraan tihindis jawaabas
walay vasiye gatchav babray
chhukh mei loiynam tabray
kanh-sa sozi na khabray
walay vasiye gatchav van tay
lookav barihas kan tay
tee booz tami saadan tay
Good compositions also attract versatile talent, here is Mohammad Muneem singing his contemporary version of the song with Piano/Cello accompaniment by Hardik Vaghela. There are traces of November Rain (Guns and Roses), but who does not need inspiration!
Nishant Kaushik provides a similar lovely version, and it would indeed be an unnecessary distraction to put dancing girls in the background of such enchanting music!
